> ## Documentation Index > Fetch the complete documentation index at: https://docs.worldassetregister.com/llms.txt > Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further. # Maintenance > Service history and upcoming work per asset Assets that need servicing carry a **Maintenance** tab (see [Asset details](/assets/asset-details#tabs)): a history of completed work with costs, and scheduled upcoming work, including work that repeats on its own. The Maintenance tab ## Recording maintenance Add a record with a date, cost (with its own currency), notes and attachments. You can also assign it to specific people and optionally **lock the task to only those people**, so it can't be picked up or completed by anyone else. A checklist lets you break the work into steps that get ticked off as they're done. ## Recurring maintenance A maintenance record can repeat on a schedule: daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. Set it once (say, quarterly generator servicing) and a new scheduled record is created automatically each time it's due, instead of someone having to remember to add it. ## Maintenance fields per category Categories define which extra fields maintenance records carry (see [Categories and fields](/setup/categories-and-fields)), so a vehicle's service record and a laptop's warranty repair can ask for different details. ## Copying to other assets **Copy to other assets** applies the same maintenance record across many assets at once, useful when a whole batch was serviced on the same day. See [Asset details](/assets/asset-details#tabs). ## Policies over maintenance Use [policies](/operate/policies) to flag assets with overdue or missing maintenance automatically, rather than checking manually.
